About
Thomas-McBrien Architects’ WatchHouse Park Avenue South reimagines a corner unit in Manhattan’s historic United Charities Building as a calm, materially rich coffee bar that elevates the daily ritual of coffee. Inspired by Donald Judd, polished steel counters run as sculptural objects through cherry-wood lined rooms, set against dark terrazzo floors and softly glowing rectangular pendants. The layout choreographs a clear procession from ordering to lingering, with inset steel shelving for coffee displays, forest-green banquettes and window bar seating, while russet awnings and outdoor furniture extend the brand’s palette onto the neoclassical facade, tying contemporary minimalism to its grand urban context.
